As part of the expansion of its Gold Buying Initiative, EDF is establishing Gold Trading Centres (GTCs) in Blantyre, Mangochi, Mzimba and Karonga. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an energetic and innovative individual to join EDF as a Gold Buying Coordinator.
Job Purpose
Reporting to the Manager, Precious Metals and Minerals, the Gold Buying Coordinator is responsible for supporting the procurement of gold and other precious metals through sourcing, evaluation and purchasing activities while ensuring compliance with quality and ethical standards. The role also involves maintaining accurate records and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Enforce compliance with ethical standards and quality requirements throughout the purchase process.
- Manage gold deposit routines and ensure timely submission of activity reports.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases and stakeholder communications.
- Prepare cash and purchasing activity reports for management.
- Provide excellent customer service and build strong relationships with clients.
- Ensure compliance with operational procedures and internal controls.
- Support implementation of procurement and purchasing activities at the Gold Trading Centre.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting obtained from a recognised and accredited institution of higher learning.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience handling large volumes of cash.
- Basic knowledge of precious metals and minerals in Malawi.
- Basic procurement or purchasing knowledge.
- Accuracy in record keeping and ability to enforce compliance with regulations.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients and analyse market data.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Willingness to work at any Gold Trading Centre as directed by management.
