As a development finance institution (DFI) , Export Development Fund is in charge of promoting the growth and diversification of Malawi’s exports. One of its key initiative in achieving this goal is through its Precious Metals and Minerals Unit, which aims to promote the mining industry by giving Artisanal and Small scale miners and gem dealer in the nation access to a trust worthy and transparent market for gold and gemstones. The Precious Metals and Minerals Unit also provides technical assistance to small Scale miners to improve their mining techniques and ensure compliance with environmental and social standards. This helps to promote sustainable mining practices in Malawi.
