
The Fund recently hosted a farewell dinner in honour of its outgoing Board Members- Martin Siwu, Martha Kaukonde, Tobias Chinkhwangwa, and Chakudza Linje, in recognition of their service and contribution to the institution’s governance and strategic direction.
The evening brought together members of the Board and management to recognise the outgoing Directors’ contribution to the Fund’s governance, oversight, and strategic direction during a significant period in its institutional growth.
In his remarks, Board Chairperson Dr Ted Nakhumwa, highlighted the critical role of effective governance in building strong and resilient institutions. He noted that while Board service is often undertaken away from the public eye, its impact is fundamental to ensuring strategic focus, institutional stability, and long-term performance.
He further acknowledged that EDF’s continued efforts to support productive sectors, promote export growth, and contribute to Malawi’s economic transformation have been strengthened by the guidance and counsel of the Board. The outgoing Directors were recognised for their commitment and the value they brought to the institution during their tenurey.

In their remarks, the outgoing Directors, expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve the Fund. They reflected on the experience with gratitude, noting the value of collaboration and shared purpose, and expressed confidence in the continued growth of the institution. They also extended their best wishes to the incoming Board Members and reaffirmed their connection to EDF going forward.
As part of the evening, tokens of appreciation were presented in recognition of the outgoing Directors’ dedicated service to the Fund.
The occasion marked not only a formal farewell, but also a reaffirmation of EDF’s commitment to strong governance, leadership continuity, and the sustained delivery of its mandate.
