Rodrick is a financial markets expert with extensive experience in central banking, foreign reserves management and financial sector development. He has played a pivotal role in shaping Malawi’s financial markets and strengthening institutions that support economic growth and investment.
He previously served as Director of Financial Markets at the Reserve Bank of Malawi, where he was responsible for the management of Malawi’s foreign exchange reserves and initiatives aimed at enhancing foreign exchange availability. He was also instrumental in the conceptualisation and establishment of the Export Development Fund (EDF), where he later served as Managing Director.
During his career, he contributed significantly to the development of Malawi’s financial sector, including the establishment of the Malawi Stock Exchange, the Government Securities Electronic Settlement System, the Central Depository System and the Financial Markets Dealers Association of Malawi. He has also been involved in structuring and mobilising foreign exchange facilities to support economic development.
A MEFMI-accredited Fellow, Rodrick has trained central bankers across the COMESA region in financial modelling, financial engineering and treasury management. He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of the Centre for Financial Innovation.
He holds a Master’s degree in International Affairs, specialising in International Finance and Economic Policy Management, from Columbia University in New York, and a Bachelor of Social Science in Economics from Chancellor College, University of Malawi. He is also a MEFMI-accredited Fellow in Foreign Reserves Management.
