Fredrick Chanza

Fredrick Chanza is the Managing Director of the Export Development Fund, bringing over 15 years of expertise in public finance, development finance, and regional economic integration. He has led EDF through transformative initiatives in trade finance, industrial park development, and the creation of structured markets for precious minerals.

His leadership has been key in operationalizing the national gold and gemstone markets and strengthening Malawi’s engagement in continental trade platforms such as the Intra-Africa Trade Forum. Fredrick’s strategic direction continues to shape EDF’s role in catalysing inclusive economic growth and export competitiveness.

He holds an MSc in Energy Economics (with distinction) from the University of Dundee and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Malawi. Widely respected for his expertise in economic analysis, deal structuring, and public policy, Fredrick has contributed to several national and international publications on fiscal policy and resource management.
